Such a pump helps to create pressure on the water level to get the desired force. And this force varies on the horsepower. The more powerful pump you use, the more water pressure you get. So it is better to identify the needs and use one.

How to Install a Washdown Machine:

Before you start installing a pump, you must identify the output. How substantial is your pump machine? Do some brainstorming on your needs and also the budget. Later you can continue with these steps to install the device.

Installation steps may vary from place to place. But these are the primary steps you must follow to have a resourceful outcome. Les start the steps:

Step1: Do you have a thru-hull?

It is an optional step if you don’t have a thru-hull. You can ignore this part, though, if you already have one. You can use any existing water inlet to avoid extra expenses. Furthermore, using any current water inlet or installing a new hull, never connect them to any cooling channel. It will overheat the pump instead.

Step2: Use convenient location to place the pump:

Place your water pump to such a place where the water storage nearby. As there is a secure connection between the water inlet and the pump placement. However, wash pumps are high to push water rather than suck them. Besides, there is cabling to be done to connect the pump. So try to protect the corrosion of the cable and the pump. Never compromise the best placement upon anything. It will cost you more with less performance of the equipment.

Step3: Hose connection between the valve and the pump:

Use steel clamps to connect the reinforced hose. It also supports the tube with plastic clips. Thus you can avoid tangling the pipe through the way. When you attached the hose to the pump, make a sealant with the tapes. In this way, you are securing the tube from pulling out.

Step4: Install a check valve for unlimited water supply:

If your pump is unable to suck water, it will lose its prime. And having such a situation frequently may lead you to lose the pump quickly. Therefore, install a check valve between the pump and filter. This check valve will protect the pump from running dry.

Step5: Double check before you start drilling:

Whenever you pick a place to install your pump, double-check it, though. Because drilling too much or unnecessary on the wall or establishment, it will lower the beauty of the area. Thus cross-check the convenient place you chose.

Step6: Choose a connector point:

There could be different connector points like traditional faucets or hose connectors. Thy often found at the back of the wall or boat deck. You have to choose a reliable connector for a clean installation. I prefer the quick disconnect type. Because that works better for my purpose. You should choose yours based on your application and pump.

Remember, connectors don’t come with the pump. You have to consult a professional to find the best suite for your pump. If you have to make holes for your connectors, try not to damage other things beneath the wall.

Step7: Use suggested wire gauge:

Always use the suggested wire from the instruction on the package. Any incompatible cable could cause a voltage drop and overheating. It hinders the pump from working on less capacity. Usually, a 20 amp circuit breaker is perfect for the circuit guard with the cable size. A suitable tinned cable and groove connection is required to run your pump uninterruptedly.

Step8: Attach the pump:

After all these arrangements, attach your pump to the place using bolts. Add the hose to the pump and connect the wires as instructed. Now plug in the switch. You can start your pump to check if the connections are working fine. Also, don’t forget to check the check valve if it supports on lack of water.

Installing a washdown pump is a little tricky. You have to be very cautious while doing it. You should take care of other connections and wiring in the boat or deck and also in the concrete structure. Because in most cases wash-down pump is a temporary installation except in the ships or boat decks. So, it is not wise to harm other persistent joints or connections for a secondary one.
